Coming soon, June 6-July 5, 2009, is The Golden Nugget Hotel and Casinos 2nd Annual Grand Poker Series. Being held inside the property’s luxurious events center will be the month long poker event, which will feature daily poker tournaments at noon, hold cash games, and special tournaments for seniors and ladies.
John Colville, director of Golden Nugget poker stated, “Players were very pleased with the series the first time and making it bigger and better this will deliver a level of play and experience our poker players have come to expect. We are so pleased to bring The Grand series back for a second year.”
In 2008, this series played host to over 15,000 poker players from across the world. It raised more than a quarter of a million for charities, while still paying out over $1.2 million in total prize money.
This series really offers poker players a wide variety of exciting features. Along with two bracelet tournaments, the favorites of H.O.R.S.E, Hold’em, Omaha, and Seven Card Stud will be held also, giving players options including pot limit, no limit and limit turnaments. Sundays will be called, Super Sunday events, featuring varieties of No Limit Hold’em tourneys with various buy-ins, $1000 in cash giveaways and a $1080 seat giveaway into the series’ July 4th Grand Finale tournament.
Daily, two No Limit Hold’em Bank Roll Builder Tournaments will be held. These tourneys have a $125.00 buy-in and are being held at 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. In Addition to these two tournaments, Golden Casino will continue to provide the players the opportunity for 4 other widely popular daily $65 No Limit Hold’em Tournaments.
Some excitement stirring around the series is the feature being held on July 1st, The Susan and Howard Lederer Celebrity Charity Poker Tournament benefiting The Boys and Girls Club. The first place winner of this great benefit will receive a $20K seat on the popular NBC poker show Poker After Dark. The prize is donated by FullTiltPoker.net and the prize winner will have an opportunity to cash in $120K on the show. Not only has no tournament ever given away a seat on a nationally televised 6-person poker program, but players can even win a seat into the charity event themselves, just by playing at any tournament held during the Grand Poker Series at noon between June 6th and June 30th.
