Many poker hopeful signed up for this years 10K WSOP Main Event, 6,494, to be exact and today, as they start Day 5, only 407 players remain. Yesterday, 241 players slipped into the money, but out of the tournament. New leaders emerged, Big names crept up, and big names fell down.
Quite possibly the biggest knock out of the day involved “The Caesar” himself, Phil Hellmuth. Hellmuth was playing a fabulous tournament, but slowly started to lose his stack throughout the day. The hand that did him in, was Aces no less, and he was the player holding them. This hand will likely make for great television when the tournament is shown later this year. Other top players who fell by the way side: Greg “FBT” Mueller, Chris “Jesus” Ferguson, Paul Wasicka, and Justin Bonomo.
The new leader that emerged is Matt Affleck, who placed 22nd in this years event #44 and is sitting nicely with 1.8M+ in chips. Right on his trail are Ludovic Lacay (1.6M+) and Tom Lutz (1.6M). The two big names that have crept up are Jordan Morgan resting in the 7th spot with 1.4M+ and Phil Ivey in the 15th spot with 1.2M+ in chips. Right behind Ivey in 16th spot is Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier, who was yesterday’s starting chip leader.
Other notables throughout the day were Adam Latimer (1M+), Joe Serock (700K), Dan Harrington (659K), and Lou Diamond Phillips (607K). Player needing a little help are Joe Hachem (490K), Amir Lehavot (472K), Peter Eastgate (397), and JC Tran (163K).
Cards are about to go in the air and the tables seem to be stacked up evenly. Today is the day where these players have got to throw a little extra push in there to make all the way. So can Phil Ivey break through the top or will we watch other big names fall to pieces? Online Casino Reviews will continue to keep our readers updated.
