Poker Stars, the online giant for poker, seems to be among the hardest hit with the recent seizure of $30 Million by the government. According to reports form PokerScout.com, Poker Stars website is seeing a 9% decrease in players, while most of their rivals are up.
Even Full Tilt Poker, up 5%, who was apart of the eCheck nightmare, still somehow managed a quick recovery. Full Tilt was able to recover faster by quickly setting up with another processor. In addition, Full Tilt provided speedy refunds to their players.
Another rival with increased business is Party Poker, but reports indicate this is only due to the Million Dollar Hand promotion. Other online poker sites such as Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, who were first named in the eCheck wreck, PokerScout.com has reported no change in their traffic.
Poker Stars response to the bounced checks is seemingly slow, but they began taking an approach last weekend and with in about two weeks, a recovery is reported to be seen. Annually Poker Stars business is up 54%, but this is the first month since December 2008, that Poker Stars numbers have dropped below the 30,000 mark.
Poker Stars is the largest online poker website in the world. It is unlikely they will continue to see the numbers drop. Even now at their darkest hour, they still double the amount of visitors as some of their competitors.
