It seems many around the world are showing a strong resistance to online casino gambling. Earlier this year Russia banned online gaming and now Germany is trying to legalize it, but next on the chopping block of banning online casino’s, Poland. This comes after a political scandal claiming that four polish officials let gaming lobbyists exert influence on political decisions.
The four officials were forced to resign, but this only made the effort to ban online gaming more of a priority. On Tuesday, the polish government drafted a law that would not allow any new online casino vendors acquire permits. Only the online casino’s that were already established could continue, but even they will be hit with higher taxes and have thier video lotteries banned, leaving only the option of playing slots.
Residents are unsure of what will really become established. Both the Parliament and the President have to approve, which both are expected too. However other countries have tried this ban and have been unsuccessful.
The European Union, in favor of online gaming, has already petitioned the World Trade Organization in regards to the ban in the United States. With Poland being a member-state within the European Union, what will happen to the central government if this ban is to go through?
