When Tsoprano ordered the hit out on Negreanu and got away with it, he figured he come back and do it again. This time Brock “Tsoprano” Parker cashed in a bit more, $552,745 and claiming the title in 2009 WSOP Event #19, a No-Limit Hold’em/ Six Handed tournament.
Less than a week ago, Parker claimed a prize about half of that, when he took the win in Event #14, his first bracelet for the same game. Once again, when it came down to head’s up, Parker was able to dominate his opponent, Joe Serock, who had the chip lead going into the head’s up play. This is the same situation as when he defeated Negreanu.
Event #19, No-Limit Hold’em/Six Handed tournament started with over 1,000 players and ran for 3 days. Erick Lindgren, Shaun Deeb, Jason Mercier and Gavin Smith are just a few of the big names who turned out for this tournament, but only Lindgren and Deeb advanced into
Day 2.
Seated together were Parker, Deeb and “Action” Jeff Garza. Garza, who seemed to take most of Deeb’s chips, later lost all of his chips to Parker, giving him the chip lead of $680K through mid-day of 2. Shortly afterwards, Deeb bottomed out. By the end of the day, Joe Serock, who came up from somewhere throughout the day and was in the lead with 1.7 million in chips and Parker, a very close second with 1.6 in chips.
The beginning of day 3 these two were actually seated together, meaning in order to stick it out, they had to wait for the weak to die off, while doing so, Serock dominated soaring to over 2.19M in chips, leaving Tsoprano back with only 1.2M by mid-day. These chip leads did not change as the day went on. In fact, Serock held a 2:1 chip lead over Parker the entire day, but in the end it all changed.
Parker’s stamina when it comes to the end is amazing. Both players bounced back and forth, but as time went on Parker just kept taking and taking til this final hand. Severely weakened, Serock raised 200K, Parker re-raised to about 1M. Serock pushes all-in and for the bracelet, Parker called. These hands were unbelievable. The flop 7s As 2c. Parker is ahead with his pocket Q’s, while Serock is sweating his pocket 10’s. Sadly, Serock did not have a chance and he knew it, the turn gave a K, and then the river taunted with a trip Q, for Parker.
Before the Q even came out, Serock had gone over to Parker to shake his hand. Parker’s
multi-bracelet win makes 10 straight years that one player has taken home 2 bracelets. This win is a refresher since in events #15-#18 did not produce any online pros. Congratulations Parker on your second win!
