WSOP Main Event Day 3 was played yesterday and proved to be the most interesting so far. Chip leads changed hands many times and sadly some players who seemed to be dominating the event, have fallen into the lower levels. However it is not over, until it is all over.
The day began with 2,044 hopeful players, but the hopes died as by the end of the day almost 1,200 of those players had been knocked out. This leaves only 864 players left and they can all start to smell the cash, seeing how players start getting paid at #648. Today, we may see some players play a little tighter to outlast and make it into the money.
The chip leader at the end of Day 3, goes to Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier. “Elky” has been playing a nice tournament, in fact it is not surprising he is among the top. He has not received the type of press that is surrounding Hellmuth or Ivey, but he made himself a huge lead while taking chips from Jerry Wong and is the only player over the million mark in chips. “Elky” has played in 8 WSOP tournaments in the last 3 yrs, his closest finish to the bracelet, was back in 2007, where he finished 9th in a $2,500 WSOP Texas Hold’em tournament.
Although many big names have soared throughout the day, sadly some have perished. Players such as Sam Farha, Christina Lindley, Jennifer Harmon, Erik Seidel, Greg Raymer, Jason Alexander, and the last of the Brunson clan, Pamela all played their last hand of this tournament yesterday.
The player of the day would have to go to Jordan Morgan. Morgan started the day slightly under 155K in chips, but now holds a nice stack of 705K in is currently 11th on the leader board. Other pros on the notable side Justin Bonomo started with 223K and ended the with over 517K, Phil Hellmuth with a 142K start and a 485K finish, and Phil Ivey, who was towards the top has dropped down to only 371K.
Today should bring much excitement as players dwindle down to the pay off mark. Can Grospellier hold onto his commanding lead, or will some other hand turn into a major boost for a lucky player? Online Casino Reviews will continue to keep readers updated throughout the tournament.
