As day 2A of the WSOP Main Event, came to a close, many have risen to the top, but few are known poker players. The day started with 1,476, all remaining players from days 1A and 1B. This is a small number compared to the over 3,000 players that will play in today’s 2B, which contains the remaining players from 1C and 1D.

During day 2A, many of the big names we have come to know and love perished, such as Barry Greenstein, Gavin Smith, Gus Hansen, and Mike “the mouth” Matusaw. However two big names managed to rise to the top, Eric Cloutier, holding onto 2nd with 383,500, and Greg “FBT” Mueller.

Greg “FBT” Mueller is having a stunning 2009 WSOP Series, already claiming 2 bracelets in events #33 and #50 and finishing 7th in event #6. The two events in which he took the bracelets were Hold’em tournaments, so maybe this was an indication that he was just getting warmed up. Currently he sits nicely with 287,300 in chips and only 13th in the days standings.

Over 1,400 players took the table yesterday and only 630 survived. In today’s events, players will only be playing 4 levels of poker, to try and level out the amount entrant difference from the two days. Three pros to watch today Jeffrey Lisandro, last years Player of the Year, holds 146,950. JC Tran, holding 139,975 in chips and online player, Andy “BKiCe” Seth, has 71,800.

There is still a ton of poker to be played and many players to fight there way through. Many of the top chip holders do not even have any information on them and most have not even played one tournament on the circuit or in the WSOP before. After today, it will be very interesting to see who rises above.
